In this rat race, we tend to forget how to manage stress and live a happy and stress-free life. Most of us have gone through the internet and some quackery stuff to relieve stress. But, You have never noticed that one such free and easy solution will help you to manage your stress.
This blog lets us know how dance relieves stress and how to implement it in our daily lifestyle.
What is Stress
Stress is a mental condition where we react when a person is under pressure or threatened. This condition usually happens when a person is restless and anxious. Some experience stress due to various conditions like family matters, work pressure, some traumatic episodes, etc.
We all live in a life of hustle and bustle where stress is an inevitable phenomenon. However, it is our skill where we should manage stress and live a happy life.
Choosing a dance workout over another type of physical activity is more fun and keeps you motivated and consistent in the long run.
How does Dance relieve stress?
We all know how stress is caused. Now let us get a little bit scientific. Physical activities like dance secrete neurotransmitters, and endorphins(the happy hormones), which help to relieve stress. These hormones are secreted in our bloodstream resulting in a sense of accomplishment and happiness.
The other benefits of dance workout are:
- Improves mood and increases focus
- Keeps us productive all-day
- Improves physical health by accelerating blood circulation
- Removes toxins from our body and gives a glowing skin and shiny hair
- Improves muscle health and improves flexibility in the body
- The motivating music enhances your mood and automatically encourages you to tap your feet
- Helps you in anger management
- Boosts your appetite and helps in a sound sleep.
All the above benefits in turn make you feel good and in turn, relieve stress.
Tips for dance to relieve stress
Dance does relieve stress. No matter what dance style you choose where you dance, a sense of dancing by listening to happy and motivational music boosts your mood and in turn relieves stress.

That is why, as a dancer, I’m sharing a few tips when you are going to learn dance or practice at home.
- Choose a hall, without any obstacles or furniture, to avoid injury.
- Wear comfortable clothes
- Start your dance workout with a warm-up of 5 minutes.
- Play your favorite music and start tapping your feet.
- Never dance continuously for more than 10 minutes if you are a beginner. Take a break of 5 minutes, let your breathing be normal, and then start again.
- Drink water in between during your dance.
- Having a dancing partner is also the best way to keep you motivated and sustain your dance routine.
- Always remember if you are dancing for the first time, your body is going to ache. But over time you will start feeling the difference.
- End your dance session with a cool-down stretch to avoid muscle soreness.
- Stop your dance if you are feeling any dizziness or short of breath
- And last of all, while dancing delete all your thoughts which cause stress and anxiety.
