Covid 19 pandemic drastically changed our lives. It was a disaster for the performers whose bread and butter was entirely associated with social interaction. However, there was a ray of hope behind every dilemma. Digital era came to the rescue and most of the performers and dance trainers could revive their career by conducting online workshops and organising a virtual concert.

In this blog, let us unwind the pros and cons of virtual dance in the digital world and let us find out if it is a blessing or a curse to society.

Pros of virtual dance

Let us first dive into the good part of Virtual dance. Pandemics like Covid19, where we had no other choice but to stay at home, conducting virtual concerts and online classes is definitely an advantage in terms of the digital age. People were dealing with mental stress, as all were stuck at home. This was indeed a great idea, to learn new skills, and have a great time together with your family members.

Cost effective solution

We all know whenever you are organising a live performance, you need to invest in a ton of expenses, that include booking an auditorium, arranging the appropriate lights, marketing, selling tickets and what not. A virtual performance on the other hand is a low budget or even no budget performance and is a 100% profit venture. And not only for the performer, it is cost effective for the audience as well.

As the expenses are low, most of the live performances tickets are pretty low and even free in some cases. Moreover, there is no geographical restriction. Which in turn, saves a fortune in commuting.

Remedy for Social Anxiety

I have seen a number of students who get easily intimidated by their fellow students. This results in comparison and finally results in social anxiety. Whereas, in virtual classes, there are almost zero chances of watching other people dancing and feeling shy. Also, if the beginners hesitate to try any movement in front of other people, virtual class will help them to dance freely.

And most of all have a great time

Isn’t it great when all the family members have enrolled in a dance routine and all of them are learning to dance  all together. Or a dance party where all the friends are online on zoom call and are having fun at comfort at their home. Dance is one of the major sources that builds social connection. Dance is not about performing art. It is a way of expressing your joy all together, and building community.

Cons of Virtual Dance

There are no such specific cons for virtual dance. But just one drawback is in case of a professional dance lesson, the teacher cannot pay attention to the students and spot mistakes. So, my personal opinion is for all the professional learners to enrol in a regular offline class. Otherwise, virtual class is always the best for one time fun routines.

Conclusion

Whether it is a virtual or live dance, the motto is to enjoy and spend quality time with your loved ones. What type would you prefer? Virtual or Offline. Do Comment below.
